Hand to review for Chad

Hey Jena!

I haven’t talked to you for awhile, so I thought I would give you an update. My buddies and I started playing at a new place around here and I have to say it is perfect for me as I won $300+ the first night, probably just beginners luck I’m sure : )

I wanted to tell you about a hand I had to see if you would have played it differently. The table had 9 players, blinds .50/1 typical stack between 60 and 150 and I am at 120.

I am in fourth position with pocket 3’s, with crappy position and such BIG cards I just call the BB. A lady 2 spots after me raises to 6 and the table folds besides the man next to me who calls. So I get in to the flop relatively cheap.

Flop come 8c 3s kc. The man before me checks, I want to set a trap but the clubs worry me.  But I know the lady next to me is very aggressive so I just check instead. She bets nearly the pot 18 and the man next to me instantly calls, as do I.

The turn is the final 3 in the deck. The man instantly goes all in for 36. I try to take my time calling his all in in order to get a third caller, but she ends up folding and I nearly double my stack.

Other than this life is great! Class is almost done for summer and football couldn’t be better!

Hey Chad!

Great to hear from you!  I am glad everything is going well for you and that you have found a great place to play poker.

As far as your hand goes, you probably got as much money out of the villains as you could.  I am guessing you held the trey of spades in your hand or the flush draw would have completed.  I put the woman on the flush draw and the guy had an obvious big king.  Once the flush did not materialize, she had to drop out of the hand.  If the flush completed, the man probably would have dropped instead.  Nice hand!
