So, round two of the WSOP has come and gone! There was really no news worth reporting during the time I was there, but I felt remissed to post something! Which lead to some of the interesting hands that developed on the second heat.
Event 10:
From middle position, I opened with Q’s for 425 with blinds at 100-200. The only problem was that the blinds were really at 75-150. OOPS! So, now the cut-off, button, and the BB (chipleader) decide to call. Flop comes 6-4-4 with 2 spades and I check with the intentions of raising. Cut-off checks behind, button leads for 1k and BB flats. I make the 5k pop and get the button to fold only to have the BB ask for my stack size. After getting the count BB calls and the turn is the Ad. I fire out another 5k and the BB again calls! So, flat, flat, flat and then the river gives me a 7c. Now I value bet 2,250 and BB puts in 15k. Time to stand and tank for myself. It really took some time to figure this one out. But, realizing that I still have 6,700 behind and we’re still early in the tourney, I call and find that my Q’s were best!
Event 11:
The third hand of the tournament and we only had 5 players at the table. The button opens for 150 and I RR to 500 from the BB with Q’s. He smoothes only to see 7-9-J. I bet 675 and the button calls. Turn…2. I bet 1k and he calls again. The river was another J and I’m screaming inside! Now I check and the button fires out 1,100. I pay him off only to see A-J. I did show my Q’s cause I might as well let them know up front that I’m playing like a girl!
7 p.m. WSOP Nightly:
I heard the play was amazingly bad in the 7 p.m. donkament so I desired to check it out myself. We got to see a lady throw away King’s full of sevens when she saw her opponents AK. She even tried to defend herself by saying that he had the best kicker.
I witnessed another lady in black going all-in anytime she paired on the flop. She was drinking. Not just the occasional drink. She was on her third jack and Ginger before the first break. The words were starting to slur rather quickly. One rather crazy hand saw our drunken lady win with j6h with the board reading 10-A-J-10-6r. Even more amazing was that she was all in on the flop. Then she calls an all-in Pre with KQo. The all-in had jacks and never improved. Our lady would eventually end the tourney for 12 players in the first two levels. Of course, reason would prevail and our lady was busted soon after.
But, that’s enough about the other’s bad play considering it was me who was tilting from 1k. I managed to stay above average all day. I called an all-in for about a third of my stack against this bad guy had previously went all-in w/ Q9, A8o, and one uncontested in last orbit. Now, he’s in cut-off and I’m BB. I have a10o and it’s 12,500 with blinds at 300/600/50. He had 77. I don’t improve.
The next hand had me in the sb with KQo. Good player from button opens for 1525. I call. When will I ever learn I must reraise or fold in this spot!! Time and time I make this same mistake. Flop is Q-10-9 rainbow. I bet 3k and the guy tank calls. Turn K and I shove. He calls w/ broadway. So I end up busto with about half the field left.
Still tilting, I go to the cash game and get an immediate seat in 1/2 thinking this would save me money. I went through 400 before I could type this up between hands!!! I would rebound after many hours of exhaustive play.
And speaking of cash games, last night I had my second ever loosing session at the Rio. The game was so strange. I must get better about table selection or recognizing when to get up from a game. I lost $300 more than I should have. I even remember thinking I should pick up my chips. The standard action was limp, limp, raise, reraise and everybody calls.
2/5 cash game and I buy-in for the max. $500.The hand that would set the tone for the night would be when I saw some random chick open for $25 and I look down at K’s. I pop it to $100 and the chick flats. Flop came J-A-3. Cbet 125 and she flats. Turn is an 8 and we both check. The river 10 gives me the scare. So much so that when she lead out for 100 I was done with the hand. Chick claims she chased the str8. But then a few min later, She leans over and says, “sorry it was u. I’d rather it be the guys.”
