The 50K HORSE has begun!

The 50K HORSE has begun and I am in 3rd coming around the first turn.  Hassan leads the field with 380k and I am in a solid third position with 300k in chips.  Average stack is around 160k.  I was last coming out of the gate though as I was down to almost 100k in the first two levels from the 150k starting stack.  My table and seat position was this:  I had Phil Ivey two to my left, Gus Hansen three to my right, Bill Chen directly across the table, and Erick Lindgren directly to my right.  There were also two very solid tight internet players seated on my side of the table and a overly tricky tough player seated next to Bill.  So all around not the table I would hope for.  But in the games I play in regularly now I am used to challenges so this is nothing new.   One thing that is tougher in this tournament is that everyone is trying so hard to win.  That is not always the case in the 2k-4k mixed game, or at least it doesn’t appear that way some of the time.

Anyway, so we had a group of 8-10 players in the Chinese during the breaks today.  Big group all from the Horse tournament.  I was able to win about 30k.  So after what felt like 12 straight days of losing in Chinese, I think I won 6 straight days now.  So Streaky!

On Thursday, the day before the Horse, I played in the 3k-6k mixed game at Bellagio and was up big but only finished up 50k for the day.  But a win is a win.  And its nice to have a win going into a big tournament.  Confidence is such a huge factor in a mixed limit event.  You need other players to fold hands to you.  They have to sense your confidence.
