Summer in the Concrete Jungle!

I will be arriving in Vegas just in time for the WSOP 50k Players Championship next week.  It will be a mix of 8 games.  Limit Hold’em, Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better, Seven Card Razz, Seven Card Stud, Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or Better, No-Limit Hold’em, Pot-Limit Omaha, 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball.  Opening day is Friday, May 28th.  It will be an all star lineup.  I expect between 140-180 players.  First place probably around $2.5m.

After that I will be playing all the 10k or above events and some of the smaller buy in events when time is available.  No Chinese Poker for me this year.  Those that read the blog last summer know how much I got buried in that game.  I don’t need any distractions this time around.  I will be playing limited cash games and concentrating primarily on the WSOP as there is only one goal this summer.  Win a Bracelet!

I have a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 6th in previous WSOPs.  Final tables are not good enough anymore.  It’s a must win situation.

I am looking forward to this summer in the concrete jungle and will be twittering updates throughout the series.  I will also be blogging every couple days or so.  If there is anything in particular you would like me to blog, just leave it in the comments on the bottom.

glgl. I’m sure if you put your mind to it, you’ll get your braclet. What lower buy-in games will you be playing?

I am not sure. It’s mostly decided by what time I have free from the bigger tournaments.

    Matt:

How do you prepare for events like the HORSE you have done so well in? Do you have notes on the well known other players in each game? Are there some games you feel you are not strong in that you tend to play tighter?

    Danny,

I guess I prepare by basically not ‘preparing’. I try to come into each day of poker with no plan and no set strategy. I try to play each hand optimally by using all the current information I have. I do have mental notes on most of the players as the high limit community is quite small. I can’t say I play tighter in any one form of poker than another. It is all situation dependent and most of the decisions are based on who my opponent is in the hand.
